Ingredients
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef (or a beef/pork mix)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Optional: fresh basil for garnish
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, sauté onion and garlic in a bit of olive oil. Add ground meat and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara, tomato paste, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix ricotta, egg, and Parmesan cheese.
- In a 9x13" baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce. Layer 3 noodles, more sauce, a layer of ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers, ending with mozzarella on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
